S.O.A.P. Bible Study Method

Here are some examples of daily devotions done using SOAP method.

How to Study the Bible: The S.O.A.P. Method

Open your Bible or GAME Challenge journal to the Bible passage for that day. Take your time and read the passage a few times over. Then look for a verse that especially speaks to you. Then write down the following:

S-Scripture Write down the verse that speaks to you.

O-Observation In your own words write down what you think is happening in that verse.

A- Application Write down how you think God wants you to apply this verse to your life? For example, is there a sin to confess, a promise to claim an attitude to change, a command to keep, an example to follow, a prayer to pray, an error to avoid, a truth to believe, or something to thank God for?

P-Prayer Write out a prayer to God. This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this Scripture, or even a prayer for greater insight on this passage, Remember that Prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out.

Also, be sure to check out Pastor JB's GAME Time sharing e-mail where Pastor JB will share with you what he learned from this same passage.
